It was three o’clock in the afternoon. Steve Hall was walking in the centre of the town. He was going to do some shopping and he was looking in the sop windows. He stopped to read a notice in the newsagent’s window. This notice said:
WANTED
Four young people (18-25) for four-week trip in a bus around England. Any nationality welcome. Pay little money. Phone: Miss Jane Stokes 734-9842(work)

He read it again and walked on. Then he thought: “A holiday on a bus- that’s not a bad idea!” He went back and read the notice again. He decided to phone. It was a record shop. Miss Stokes was not there: She was out for coffee. The assistant in the shop asked him to ring back later.
He phoned again half an hour later, and this time he talked to Miss Stokes. “We still need one more person” She said. “I don’t have much money” Steve told her. “Don’t worry,” Jane said “Come and discuss it with me in the shop this evening at eight o’clock”. “I’ll meet you at eight” Steve said.
